The Uncharted Paths of an Unknown Journey

On my way to visit friends across the state, I chose a shortcut I had only taken once before. My plan was simple: reach the highway before sundown. But I underestimated the drive by nearly an hour.

Picture it — backroads, 10 p.m., thick forest lining both sides of the road, and the only light stretching ahead was from my car. As daylight faded, the Lord, in His mercy, sent a single vehicle in front of me. We traveled together the rest of the way.

As we approached the highway, my GPS signaled for me to turn. Yet I had become so focused on following the other car that I missed my exit. In that moment, I had a choice: continue following the vehicle to an unknown destination, or turn back and continue alone toward my own.

When I turned around and found the highway, I was greeted by a breathtaking golden moon illuminating the sky. What would normally have been a dark and uncertain road was suddenly clear and easy to navigate.

Later, as I exited and turned left, I quietly said goodbye to the moon and welcomed the glow of brightly lit buildings and roads filled with life and movement.

Looking back, I realized how deeply this journey mirrors the seasons of our lives.

God often asks us to trust Him along unfamiliar paths — roads not outlined in our planners or expectations. When we rest in the assurance of His presence, we discover that He faithfully sends others to walk beside us. But we must never depend more on the support than on the One who sent it.

There are moments when we must be willing to walk alone, even when every voice urges otherwise.

Do you recognize His voice? Are you willing not only to believe, but to obey?

Some of the sweetest moments of my life have come when His presence became radiantly tangible — especially in seasons that felt the most solitary. In every season, the Lord has given me exactly what I needed. I have never had to wonder whether He would guide me or remain with me.

Truly, I can say:

Psalms 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

Thank You, Holy Spirit, for faithfully navigating my present decisions and my future path.
