Too often, we make assumptions based on personality and outward behavior.
We may see someone who is quiet, reserved, humble, or laid back and conclude they are shy, timid, passive, or easily influenced. In reality, they may possess remarkable brilliance, unwavering strength, and deep perseverance — simply expressed through a God-fearing servant’s heart.
Conversely, we may encounter someone who is loud, outspoken, confident, or fast-paced and assume they are cold, self-centered, or domineering. Yet beneath that bold exterior may be a compassionate problem solver, a protector, or a visionary driven by a desire to see things work well for everyone.
There is often far more to a person than what we perceive at the surface.
Strength takes many forms — and so does manipulation. This is why we must seek God’s wisdom and discernment, especially as leaders. Without it, we risk overlooking what may be a profound blessing or a treasure hidden just beneath the exterior.
1 Samuel 16:7 “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
